| During the night of 6/7 april 2000 I had plans to observe some meteors from my backyard. Minutes before my clockalarm went off, my wife Lizzie woke me up and said: "The sky is in a strange way tinted red". "Hmm" I said "Probably clouds of cirrus" and silently cursing the weather gods... But when I looked out the window I saw a red sky with white columns of light moving up and down .... honderduizend miljoen bommen en granaten (this is a Dutch expression of Captain Haddock of the comic Kuifje)... this is Aurora Borealis!! I grabbed my Canon T70 and a Canon FD 2.8/15 mm fish eye lens and took off to the backyard of my home. There I withnessed a great show of Aurora Borealis. The best pictures I shot are presented in this gallery. |
