| The Geminids are one of the finest meteor streams visible. The combination with counts of more than 100 meteors an hour and the long winter nights alway's give good results for visual observers. This year I stayed with my friends Carl Johannink, Michel Vandeputte, Inneke Verkerken and Simon Vanderkerken in Portugal to escape the usual bad weather in the Netherlands. There we had a good look on the Geminid meteorstream. I counted 1500 meteors during two nights. This two nights I also used a Canon 40D with an Canon EF 2.8/15 mm fish eye lens. I captured almost 140 meteors! Best ones are shown here. Best view is to see the pictures in "original" mode. The non-astronomical pictures were made by Michel Vandeputte, Belgium. |
